It's the warm up on Friday before the Scottish Grand National on Saturday and our man Garry Owen has picked out all his selections for the first day.

TRAPRAIN LAW (1:15) looks legit for Lucinda Russell in the Remus Uomo Handicap Hurdle at Ayr. The grey continued his relentless rise when decisively defeating Ginger Mail over track and trip. The gelding showed both class and guts so he can continue the Arlary handler’s magnificent run.
YOUNG BUSTER (1:50) can strike for Fergal O’Brien in the LWOB Novices’ Handicap Hurdle. The seven-year-old showed the benefits of wind surgery when slamming Lelant at Ffos Las. The gelding was staying-on strongly so he can extend his yard’s superb run over three miles.
The trainer can double-up with GREAT HEART’JAC (4:10) in the Seko Novices’ Chase. The gelding took another step forward when second to Jay Jay Reilly at Market Rasen. That is excellent form so the pacey eight-year-old can bag another competitive contest.
HUGOS NEW HORSE (2:25) can claim a fascinating novices’ hurdle for Paul Nicholls. The six-year-old ran another stormer when third to Crambo in the EBF Final at Sandown. That was hot contest so this strong-traveller can resume winning ways dropped in class.
RICHMOND LAKE (3:00) can leave his rivals washed-up in the Hillhouse Quarry Chase. Donald McCain’s horse relished tackling 2m 4f when thrashing Ned Tanner at Haydock. The gelding is open to plenty of progress in handicaps so he can deny some classy rivals.
GREAT SNOW (3:35) can put ‘em on Ice for Neil Mullholland in the Seafield Hurdle. The mare put in another career best when third to Ilovethenightlife in a Newbury Grade 2. The six-year-old will be suited by the return to three miles so she can see off a strong field.
The Thistle Cabs Hurdle is very trappy but I’m backing Sam Allwood’s LEPASHE (4:45). The six-year-old stayed three miles well when chinned by Midnightreflection at Doncaster. The gelding looks nicely unexposed as a stayer so he can go one better for his shrewd yard.
NOVEL LEGEND (3:50) can tell the tale for James Fanshawe in the two-miler at Newbury. The gelding continued his upward curve when cosily dismissing First Emperor at Kempton. That race is working out extremely well so this tough type can defy a 6lb rise back on Turf.
