Scottish racing fans are heading for Ayr today for eight competitive races.
Record Sport tipster Garry Owen takes you through his fancies on the Monday card.
ANIMORE (2:30) can bag a cracking novices’ chase on the first day of the new Jumps Season at Ayr.
Iain Jardine’s mare stayed on the upgrade when hacking up from Grand Morning at Hexham.
The eight-year-old jumped well that day so she can make all once again for her in-form yard.
Jardine can also bag the novices’ handicap hurdle with FLOOD DEFENCE (4:15).
The mare produced a personal best over timber when chinned by Salley Gardens at Perth.
The seven-year-old looks unexposed and she should be fit after some fair spins on the Flat.
Rose Dobbin’s PERMISSION GRANTED (3:05) won’t back down in the staying handicap hurdle.
The gelding caught the eye when third behind Fairlawn Flyer back over three miles at Perth.
That is very respectable form so this tough type can take full advantage of an attractive mark.
GREY ATLANTIC WAY (3:40) can shade the conditionals’ chase for shrewd Danny Brooke.
The gelding remains fairly-treated after his emphatic defeat of Crank Em Up at Sedgefield.
Donald McCain remains in excellent form so I’m rowing in with STEINKRAUS (4:50).
The hurdler was narrowly denied by Near Kettering on his handicap debut at Carlisle.
That was a clear career best so this tough type can defy a welter-burden upped in trip.
