Ayr High Street art exhibition hopes to coin in cash for cancer charity

An exciting town-centre art exhibition this weekend – featuring a wealth of local artists – hopes to raise cash for a cancer charity.

‘Autumn is a Second Spring’ brings together a diverse group of artists across a range of media including paintings, sculptures, drawings and ceramics.

The public event is taking place within the 1517 department store on Ayr High Street today until 8pm and this Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm.

Organised by artists Rebecca Scott and Stuart Murphy, who are both passionate about creating an opportunity for artists to promote their talent, the event hopes to raise funds for Ayrshire Cancer Support.

All artists are donating to ACS (Handout)

All artists are donating to the charity and can increase their donations through sales.

There will be a range of original artwork on display including beautiful depictions of the Scottish landscape and wildlife, stunning and thought-provoking portraits, plus richly researched artwork that delves into the darkness of the middle-ages.

Also on show is a striking wall art in a variety of media, and 3D artwork to view in the form of sculpture and ceramics.

There will be an opportunity to observe and take part in an interactive art piece whilst the exhibition is live.

Rebecca said: “This is the first time that these artists have all exhibited together and the event also presents a great opportunity to develop networks in the creative sector.

“We hope that you can join us for this exciting event.

“It is a pleasure for artists to showcase their work and a treat for the eyes for all who attend.

“We would also greatly appreciate support for a fantastic local charity.”
