Ayr explosion: Video taken moments after blast shows strewn bricks and rubble as dust fills air

A video taken moments after a blast destroyed a home in Ayr shows strewn rubble and bricks as dust fills the air.

Two people can be seen making their way through the dust and debris after the explosion Gorse Park in the Kincaidstone area of the town just after 7pm.

A property still standing in the footage has significant damage as windows can be seen smashed and hanging off.

The video also captures flashing blue flashing lights in the distance as emergency services arrive.

It is understood that the sound from the blast could be heard up to three miles away, according to reports on social media.

The cause of the blast or whether anyone has been injured is not yet known.

The area surrounding where the explosion took place has been evacuated.

The police are ordering people to stay at least 200m back.

A huge emergency service presence is in the area with multiple fire engines, police cars and ambulances.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We are currently in attendance at an incident in Gorse Park, Ayr.

"Operations Control mobilised a number of appliances and specialist resources to the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish the fire.

"Crews remain in attendance and are assisting emergency service partners."

Waseem Hanif, spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN said: "At around 8pm tonight we received a request to assist the emergency services following the reports of a serious explosion in Gorse Park, Ayr.

"Our engineers are currently assisting the emergency services to ensure the immediate vicinity is made safe in our role as the gas emergency service."
