These are the horrifying images of a housing estate ripped apart by a massive explosion in Ayr last night.

Four people – including two children – are in hospital following the devastating blast in Kincaidston shortly after 7pm.

Images taken from the skies this morning have revealed the true extent of the blast's impact which wiped out an entire house and impacted many others around it at Gorse Park.

Debris was sent for hundreds of yards around while the blast was felt up to three miles away when it rocked the estate last night.

Nearby residents have spent a night in shelter at the Queen Margaret Academy and Kincaidston's Community Pavilion.

Donations of food, water and blankets have poured in from individuals and businesses around Ayrshire.

Dozens of emergency services vehicles raced to the scene in the aftermath of the explosion with a clean-up operation beginning this morning.

Police have yet to provide an update on the condition of the two adults and two children rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.
