A fundraiser has been set up for families affected by an explosion which destroyed multiple homes on an Ayr street.
Emergency service vehicles rushed to the scene at Gorse Park in Kincaidston around 7.10pm on Monday.
Locals described the blast as sounding like a bomb, and it is believed it could be heard up to three miles away from the estate.
Four casualties – two adults and two children – have been taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.
A number of premises have been evacuated and two local rest centres have been set up to assist people following the incident.
Now, a JustGiving page has been created to help the residents recover from the incident by an unnamed local business owner.
The person behind the page said: "Following the explosion residents have been displaced, properties have been damaged and families need urgent practical and emotional support.
"One of our team members lives in the estate with her family and their, and many other families', homes have been substantially damaged by the blast.
"Practical and emotional support will be paramount at this point for everyone affected."
The crowdfunder has reached almost a quarter of its £5,000 target within 24 hours of being established.
The area surrounding where the explosion took place has been evacuated with Police Scotland ordering people to stay 200m away.
Local road closures are in place as emergency services remain at the scene with people advised to avoid the general area.
Enquiries into the cause of the explosion remain ongoing.
