This is the horrifying moment when an explosion destroyed a home in Ayr leaving the four residents seriously injured.
The CCTV footage captured the blast on Gorse Park in the Kincaidston area of the town at around 7.10pm on Monday, October 18.
Locally named William and Marion Ferguson and their two boys, aged 16 and 11, are currently being treated in hospital following the horrific incident.
In the clip, which was taken on nearby Heather Park, an ominous rumble can be heard as the devastating explosion takes place.
That is followed by a white flash in the clip - and moments later debris could be seen falling from the sky as it was blown through the air.
Tiles and broken bricks were scattered in streets over 200 meters away as a result of the blast.
Car alarms can be seen flashing on neighbour streets as the explosion shook through the town.
Emergency crews raced to the suspected gas explosion after the alarm was raised while hero neighbours pulled the stricken family from the rubble.
The blast destroyed the home and caused significant damage to neighbouring properties.
The explosion could be heard from eight miles away and residents have claimed there was a ‘ strong smell of gas ’ in the hours before.
A joint investigation by Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service remains underway.
One local person said: “At the time the blast happened you would expect people to be walking around, so it’s a miracle nobody was killed in the vicinity.
“There were slates and documents from inside the home found on the street along with random parts of furniture. It seems incredible that anyone inside could have survived.”
Among items found nearby were bank statements bearing the names of the Fergusons.
Devastated friend Michelle Buchanan posted on Facebook, calling for people to be mindful of those affected by the incident - particularly when posting on social media.
She wrote: “My friends are in hospital in critical condition, please be kind when sharing photos and comments related to Kincaidston.
“The house was their home and families and friends are worried sick. Get facts straight before rumours are spread. Love and best wishes to all affected.”
She also changed her Facebook profile image to a touching picture of praying hands with the words “Pray For Kincaidston”.
Many residents said the force of the explosion was like “a bomb going off”.
Chief Inspector Derrick Johnston, area commander for South Ayrshire, confirmed the family were all in a serious condition.
A joint investigation into the "complex incident" has been launched by Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to determine the cause of the powerful blast.
