Boats currently docked in a plush Ayr neighbourhood have 14 days to be moved or face being sunk by council chiefs.
The structures currently abandoned on Racecourse View have been anchored for months.
Ayrshire Live revealed last week that councillors were fighting to force road bosses into taking action after watching the street turn into a ‘mini harbour’.
Less than a day after our coverage of the battle of land, sea and Ayr, the council’s waste disposal unit stepped in to turn the tide on the boats after the appearance of a fourth.
And in the wake of residents sharing their fury, a cross-council ward taskforce helped persuade South Ayrshire Council to take urgent action.
Notices have been placed on the boats by waste management, instructing them to be removed within 14 days.
Ayr East councillor Chris Cullen was alerted to the presence of the boats despite the structures being dumped in Ayr West.
It comes after Ayr West Tory trio – councillors Derek McCabe, Martin Dowey and Lee Lyons – pleaded with Ayrshire Roads Alliance to get the boats removed.
SNP politician Cullen told Ayrshire Live: “I began looking into this situation after being contacted by a constituent again last Wednesday, who I advised to contact the ward councillors back in April.
"The constituent came back to me expressing that no action had been taken.

"With this being an ongoing issue for several months now, I instructed waste enforcement officers to look into the situation."
Additionally, Councillor Cullen also looked into the removal of an abandoned caravan on Gower Place and another boat on Finlas Avenue which have sat for over a year.
He added: "I am happy to confirm notice has been served on these abandoned structures and removal will take place if they are not gone within the time period stated."
Councillor McCabe added: "I'm delighted to see progress finally being made, but it's sad that it has taken last week's Ayrshire Live article to force action from the council."
