Visiting restrictions at two of Ayrshire’s biggest hospitals have been reduced from today – allowing patients to have one designated visitor per day.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran announced the reduction in visiting restrictions at Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals after a visiting ban was put in place almost six weeks ago.
From today each patient will be able to have one designated visitor per 24 hours.
This applies to all areas of the hospitals, except Covid-19 wards or any ward experiencing an outbreak of Covid-19.
In these areas, essential visiting will continue.
All visits must be pre-arranged to allow social distancing measures to be maintained within ward areas.
The health board ask that all visitors please contact the ward to arrange a visit in advance.
Visits that have not been pre-booked cannot be accommodated.
Guidance on all visiting arrangements can be found at https://www.nhsaaa.net/hospitals/visiting-restrictions/
Visiting in all other hospitals in the county remains unchanged and will continue to support two designated visitors.
‘Virtual visiting’ (video calling) is also available on all sites.
Interim nurse director Jennifer Wilson said: “We are looking forward to being able to welcome visitors back into our acute hospitals and know this will have a hugely positive effect on our patients.”
