Ayodhya Nagar murder case: Hubby held

BHOPAL: Ayodhya Nagar police on Friday claimed to have solved the murder case in which decomposed body of a 38-year-old woman was found lying in the washroom of her locked house at a posh covered campus colony in Ayodhya Nagar four days back on Tuesday morning. Police arrested her husband on charges of murder, who confessed of killing the woman by strangulating her with laptop charger cable.

The accused revealed that his deceased wanted to settle in Bhopal and pressurised him to either lease or sell his parental property in Gairatganj Raisen while he wanted to shift to his native town as his financial condition was not well.

SHO Ayodhya Nagar Pawan Sen said that the accused Prashant Patel was missing after his wife Rakhi alias Rajkumari Patel’s body was recovered lying in the washroom of their house at Ganpati Homes Colony in Ayodhya Nagar. Prashant changed 14 locations in the past 36 hours. As his location was tracked at Bhedaghat in Jabalpur, police detained him with the help of Jabalpur police and brought him back to Bhopal.

SHO Sen said that Prashant revealed that his financial condition was not good and he wanted to settle in his native town Gairatganj in Raisen. Rakhi wanted to stay in Bhopal and pressurised him to either sell or lease his part in the parental property. This led to frequent disputes between them for the past six months.

SHO Sen said that on June 24, a dispute took place between them again on the same issue. The two children - son Vedansh, 8 and daughter Soumya, 6, were on the first floor in the bedroom at that time. During the dispute Prashant strangled Rakhi with his laptop cable and she died.

He dragged the body into the washroom of the room located in the back of the house and locked the room. He went upstairs and told the children that Rakhi had gone to her office and took them to Gairatganj where he left them at his parents’ home. He was fearful as to whether he would be caught so he went absconding.
