Ayling-Bamford rivalry, American football, fitness boosts and Leeds United training unpicked

Leeds United host West Ham United on Friday night at Elland Road in the Premier League with the chance to move up to 10th and level on points with the Hammers.

Marcelo Bielsa took the unusual step of naming his entire starting line-up for the game in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

The vast majority of those expected to play featured in the club’s latest training video. Here are a few of the things we picked up from the clips.

Alioski is still front and centre

Ezgjan Alioski has developed something of a reputation for being a little odd when cameras are around.

In the latest video, again there is a strange noise from him when he is around his team-mates, none of whom bat an eyelid.

Is everything okay with Pablo?

There is also a special Christmas message from the North Macedonia international delivered down the camera to all the viewers.

Ayling-Bamford rivalry

Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford have a small race alongside one another with the bungee cords attached to their waists.

Driving from a standing start, Ayling beats Bamford from point A to point B, but ever the competitor, Bamford makes sure Ayling knows he started the sprint first.

Wrong ball

San Francisco 49ers may have shares in the Elland Road club and be looking to expand their percentage, but the influence has stretched onto the training fields at Thorp Arch.

During their indoor exercises before heading out onto the outdoor pitches, Leif Davis, Jack Harrison and Ayling were recorded throwing an American football around.

Harrison, who spent several years in the US before joining Manchester City, was not half bad with his long game.

Fitness boosts

After Bielsa’s confirmation yesterday, there was physical reassurance from training in the form of Pablo Hernandez and Jamie Shackleton training outdoors with the rest of the squad.

Alioski’s apprentice?

Ian Poveda has become a very popular member of the squad at Thorp Arch. The winger is not shy on camera either, like Alioski.

In one moment, as he heads out to the training fields with Pascal Struijk, Liam Cooper and Hernandez, Poveda is happy to sing Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’.

He even gets a wry look out of the immovable Hernandez.
