Ayeisha McFerran appeal after World Cup medal is stolen

Ireland goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran has appealed for help to find her World Cup silver medal after it was stolen from her apartment.

McFerran, from Larne in Co Antrim, revealed that her flat in Utrecht, where she plays club hockey with Dutch team Kampong, was broken into on Monday night.

Among the stolen belongings was the silver medal the 25-year-old memorably won with Ireland at the 2018 Hockey World Cup, reports the Irish Mirror.

The goalkeeper wrote on Twitter: "Some coward decided to break into my apartment and steal mine and my roommates belongings!

"Among that was my 2018 World Cup medal which is more valuable than all electronics!

"I would appreciate any help from the hockey world and Utrecht family in finding my medal."

McFerran's plea comes just 24 hours after she was confirmed in Ireland's squad to compete in the Olympic Games in Tokyo next month.
