Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has successfully completed a medical ahead of his loan move to Napoli for the remainder of the season.
Tuanzebe, 24, will remain in Italy while he awaits a visa appointment at the Italian embassy in London, where he will travel and return on the same day.
Napoli are optimistic the visa will be obtained by Saturday so Tuanzebe can be registered in time to be available for their home game against Sampdoria on Wednesday.
Tuanzebe is represented by his brother, Dimitri, while United hired intermediaries experienced in transferring their players to Italian clubs in recent years.
Romelu Lukaku, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian, Alexis Sanchez, and Ashley Young have all permanently moved to Italian clubs from United. Smalling and Sanchez initially joined Inter Milan on loan.
Tuanzebe ended his season-long loan with Aston Villa over a lack of playing time following the sacking of former manager Dean Smith in November. Tuanzebe made just two substitute appearances under current manager Steven Gerrard.
United extended Tuanzebe's contract until 2023, with the option of an additional year, as part of his terms with Villa. Although Tuanzebe struggled for fulfilling playing time at United last season, there remain doubts over the futures of fellow centre-backs Eric Bailly and Phil Jones.
