Axed Wales star on brink of Saracens move that would end international career - reports

Wales international Aled Davies is reportedly leaving the Ospreys for European champions Saracens.

Rhys Webb is returning to the Liberty in the summer and Davies is out of contract.

The Rugby Paper report that Saracens have reportedly agreed a deal for the 20-cap scrum-half to join them in the summer.

They have seen Ben Spencer arrange to join Bath and are believed to view Davies as his replacement.

The London club will be playing in the English championship next season after their relegation for salary cap breaches.

Bath had been linked with Davies but instead have picked up Spencer.

The Ospreys haven't received anything official about Davies' intentions, and he is a player they have enjoyed having on board.

But Rhys Webb is returning to the region and they have four other No. 9s in  Shaun Venter, Harri Morgan, Matthew Aubrey and Rueben Morgan-Williams.

Given Davies' Test experience, Saracens will hope he can offer them good service if they do wrap up the deal.

Wales' third-choice No. 9 at the World Cup last year, he has been out of the Six Nations picture under Wayne Pivac.

A move to the English Premiership would make Davies ineligible for Wales under the current 60-cap policy.

Webb will return after the end of a short-spell with Bath and a season-and-a-half at Toulon.
