An axe, a crowbar and a saw were recovered after a police chase in Poynton .
Officers were patrolling Burton Drive at 2am when they spotted two suspicious men hiding in balaclavas.
They started chasing the men, who jumped through a number of gardens on the quiet residential street in a bid to get away.
The pair successfully escaped from officers.
The weapons were seized from the scene during the chase.
Police also recovered a car involved in the incident.
Officers are appealing for anyone with CCTV, or who saw the men, to get in touch.
A post was put on the Macclesfield Police Facebook page at 4am saying: "At about 2am this morning officers from the Road Crime Unit located two males in balaclavas hiding on Burton Drive in Poynton. They were chased through gardens but escaped.
"An axe, a saw and a crowbar and car were recovered.
"Local residents please check your CCTV."
