Awkward moment Lorraine Kelly snubs former TV colleague Esther McVey live on Good Morning Britain

Lorraine Kelly is well known for her happy persona - but today the mask slipped when she was faced with her former colleague Ester McVey.

The pair used to work with each other on GMTV - but if Lorraine’s face is anything to go by, they didn’t exactly get on.

The Scottish morning TV host was doing her usual segment on Good Morning Britain where she tells Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid what’s coming up on her show when her face switched for a second at the mention of the Conservative MP’s name.

Piers and Susanna were joined on the panel by their guests, including Tory leadership contender McVey who had just been interviewed on the show.

Susanna asked Lorraine if she remembered McVey - and her face was a picture.

She replied: "Yep. Yes I do" before swiftly changing the subject to who was appearing on her programme.

But Piers, sensing the tension, couldn’t resist stirring the pot, and asked: "So you got on with Esther then Lorraine?"

An uncomfortable looking Lorraine tried to scoot over the question, saying: "I don't remember, I don't remember, I don't remember at all. It was a long time ago."

To which Piers said: "Ooh if looks could kill!"

GMB viewers flocked to social media to work out what the backstory was to Lorraine’s hostility.

One tweeted: “Epic levels of shade from Lorraine or Lorraine (whichever one Esther McVey wronged in a previous life).”

Another said: “Definitely a back story to what’s gone on between @EstherMcVey1 & @lorraine.”

A third said: “The look of sheer disgust from Lorraine when asked about working with Esther McVey on GMTV is brilliant.”

Another added: A third wrote: "You just know lorraine has got something juicy on EsterMcVey gmb... we want answers."
