Awkward Boris Johnson squirms when asked if he'll be changing nappies on This Morning

Prime Minister Boris Johnson appeared to become flustered when he was asked whether he will be changing any nappies.

Boris announced that he was expecting a baby with his partner Carrie Symonds, who he is now engaged to.

Appearing on This Morning, the Prime Minister was congratulated by Holly Willoughby and Phil Schofield, before they began asking some questions on the impending arrival.

Asked if he was excited about becoming a father again, he simply said: "Very excited, very excited."

To which Phil said: "Is that it? How good are you at changing nappies?"

Boris then became flustered by the question, saying: "I'm not going to, well... I'm not going to... I'm obviously..."

Phil then prompted: "Will you change nappies?"

Holly then urged the PM to 'give it a go', to which he responded: "I expect to."

When asked about how his family took the baby news, Boris seemed to become even more uncomfortable and squirming at the question.

Phil then continued: "It's interesting because that is a point with you, that with many people they've got their own families, they've got their own lives, all family life is going on in Downing Street but you won't talk about it."

Boris replied: "Very sensibly.

"I've spent an awfully long time deliberately not going on about for the very good reason that there are people I love that I don't want to put in the debate."

This Morning viewers picked up on the awkward interview, with one commenting: "I suspect #BoJo has never changed a nappy in his life #ThisMorning."

Another said: "You could tell Boris was not expected to be asked about changing nappies and family reaction - always the small things that can stop you in your script #ThisMorning."

A third said: "Boris Johnson on #thismorning doing a remarkable job of showing how uncomfortable he is being held to account or interacting with other humans. I don’t think he answered a single question. Soundbite after soundbite."
