Awful Auntie by David Walliams - review

David Walliams, Awful Auntie

When Lady Stella Saxby wakes up and can't move her arms she knows something is wrong. Her aunt tells her that she has broken every bone in her body and her parents are dead because of a car crash. Her Aunt Alberta is really after Stella mansion and money. Aunt Alberta has already gambled away all her own money playing tiddlywinks.

This book was good fun with some sad bits. It is very much like all the other David Walliams books. If you like the other books then you will really like this one too. The only bad thing about the book is that it doesn't have Raj in it. Booooo. Bad David Walliams.

My favourite character was Alberta's Great Bavarian Mountain Owl, because I love owls and I didn't want her to get him stuffed. I wanted her to get stuffed instead. Booooo, bad Aunt Alberta. There are lots of funny characters in this book, like Soot the Geordie chimney sweep ghost and Gibbon the ancient butler.

This is a good book, but I don't think it is as good as The Boy in the Dress. If you had to pick one I would pick that one first. But I expect that they will make Awful Auntie into a Christmas TV programme.
