Millwall have released a statement following the news that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been diagnosed with Coronavirus .

The Reds owner took to social media to say that he has been “visited” by “the recent virus”, but has stressed there is no need for concern as he follows medical advice.

The club have been in discussion with the English Football League about the situation, and say they are also “seeking advice from medical professionals”.

“The recent virus has ‘visited’ me and I felt obliged to let the public know,” wrote Marinakis, on Instagram.

“I feel good as I take all the necessary measures and I discipline to the doctors’ instructions.

“I strongly advise all my fellow citizens to do the same. I wish all a quick recovery.”

The 52-year-old was at the City Ground on Friday night for Forest’s 3-0 defeat to the Lions in the Sky Bet Championship.

Millwall have now released a statement acknowledging the news, and are taking the “necessary precautions”.

"Millwall are aware of the news and are seeking appropriate medical advice and guidance,” Millwall told News at Den in a statement.

“All necessary precautions are already being taken."
