Awards for five housing leaders in New Years honours list 2016

Five housing leaders have been recognised in the 2016 New Years Honours list.

Simon Dow, who stood down as group chief executive of the Guinness Partnership this year after 14 years, receives a CBE for services to housing and homeless people. Dow is chair of London Housing Foundation and chair of Dolphin Housing Trust.

Paul Tennant, chief executive officer at Orbit since 2003, receives an OBE for services to housing. Tennant has worked for various housing associations since 1982.

Two people receive MBEs for their work in the sector. Sinead Butters, the chief executive at Aspire Group, receives an MBE for services to housing. Butters has been chief executive at Aspire for nine years, and has worked for the housing association since June 2003.

Katrina Robinson, a solicitor and the head of legal services at Viridian Housing and chair of the Tenancy Fraud Forum, has also been awarded an MBE for services to social housing.

Sheila Whitty, board member at Circle Housing, where she is champion for sheltered housing, receives a British Empire Medal for services to the community in Surrey.
