An award-winning outdoor and bike brand is opening its first Bristol store in a former bank in Clifton.

This will be Alpkit’s fourth new store to open in 2021 and it will use the 3,000 sq ft pace to showcase its clothing and equipment.

Alpkit, which currently has seven stores in Britain, will recruit a team of six local staff for the new store which will hold the full Alpkit range, Sonder bikes and a repair station, as well running events in and around Bristol.

David Hanney CEO of Alpkit said: “We’ve had our eye on Bristol for a while as it’s renowned as a biking and outdoor hub and a brilliant base to enjoy everything on the surrounding doorstep.

"Whether it’s a bike ride across to Ashton Court or a dip in the River Avon, we’re delighted to be bringing Alpkit to the community.

“The former Lloyds Bank is a well-known building in Bristol and we’re looking forward to putting all our energy into bringing it back to life and investing into providing a high street centre piece.

“I’m very keen to recruit locally and would encourage anyone who loves the outdoors and is knowledgeable about where to go locally for adventures to apply.

“Alpkit Bristol will play a full role in the city. We’ll run community events, outdoor skills courses, group bike rides and walks from the store. There will also be a workshop to mend and repair any brand of outdoor product or bike. We want Alpkit to become a hub for both local residents and visitors to the area who love adventures in the outdoors.”

Alpkit’s new Bristol store will open at the end of August.
