Award-winning museum appeals for volunteers

West Lothian’s award-winning military museum needs is on the look-out for new volunteers.

The attraction, at Wilkieston, is staffed by volunteers and always needs more to help out, not just on the normal opening hours of the museum, but also to help with the many events we have throughout the year.

And to give a taste of what to expect as a volunteer, the museum is having an open day on Saturday, September 18.

Its owner, Ian Inglis, explained: “One of the hardest things for a charity is to attract volunteers to help out. Our triple award winning Military Museum Scotland is no exception.

“Do you have what it takes to be a volunteer? Do you have time on your hands to help Military Museum Scotland.

“You do not have to be ex military to volunteer, but you do have to be keen and willing to become part of our family of volunteers.

“We are looking for many skills and experiences but an interest in military things would be desirable. We are holding a volunteer open day on Saturday, September 18 from 10.30am until 2.30pm.

“Come along and find out more about volunteering at Military Museum Scotland and have a chat with some of our volunteers. If you think you have what it takes, please pop into the museum on the 18th. We look forward to meeting you.”

The Military Museum Scotland is based at Legion Hall, Louis Braille Avenue, Wilkieston, EH27 8DU.
