Martin Adler, a winner of the Rory Peck award, was shot dead in Somalia while covering a demonstration in the capital, Mogadishu. Adler, a cameraman who often worked for Channel 4 news, was murdered by a man who reportedly walked up behind him and shot him in the back. Adler, who was born in Sweden, won the 2004 Rory Peck award for a documentary he made while embedded in Iraq. He also won the 2001 Amnesty International media award. (Via andnetwork.com)
