Award-winning Gloucestershire education recruitment consultant starts new agency

An award-winning education recruitment consultant and his partner have co-founded their own agency with branches in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

Ellis Thorne and Jennifer Jackson, a former supply teacher, have set up Thrive Education to use their combined experience to help primary and secondary schools find staff throughout the South West.

Mr Thorne began his career in the industry in 2016 with the Class People agency. He became the manager of three of the company’s branches, in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Wiltshire.

His work in the field has gone on to be recognised within the industry with nominations and awards, including winning the Best Newcomer prize at the 2017 IRP Awards.

Mr Thorne’s new venture Thrive Education Recruitment is based in Alexandra Warehouse on Gloucester Docks.

As well as teachers, it helps schools to recruit teaching assistants and senior leadership staff in a wide variety of settings, including early years and SEMH/SEN provisions.

Mr Thorne said: "The secret of a successful agency is to really look at the needs of both schools and teachers.

"It would be easy to take a 'plug the gap' approach but in the long run this isn’t what builds a meaningful and honest relationship with practitioners.

"It’s not always about making money, you need to show genuine commitment to the details of a placement to really thrive".
