An award-winning Midlothian gastropub and boutique hotel once featured as one of the best in Britain has been put up for sale.
The Sun Inn has scooped gongs for its bistro-style kitchen and comfortable accommodation since being taken over by its current owners in 2008.
However, the popular Dalkeith venue - which can also host weddings - is now set to pass into new hands after being listed for sale by property firm Christie and Co.
The listing states: “The Sun Inn is an award winning gastro pub and boutique inn established within the area of Midlothian and has recently been refurbished to a high standard throughout.
“The business is operated as a bistro style bar/restaurant and caters for guests of all ages through its diverse menu. The business would suit an owner operator who can manage the business alongside an existing management team or alternatively it could make a perfect addition to a multi-site portfolio.
“Our client currently offers wedding packages however, this part of the business could be developed even further.”
The new owners will not need to worry about the commute to work with a three-bedroom home boasting its own private garden included in the site offer - extending to five acres of land.
The lush hotel picked up a recommendation by The Times travel section when it was listed among the ‘20 best pubs with rooms’ in the UK in 2014, two years after being named Scottish Gastropub of the Year.
In addition to six comfortable and stylish rooms, the bar includes a popular beer garden at the front and sits on the banks of the River South Esk.
