Award-winning Castle Douglas community cafe reopens after funding boost

An award-winning cafe will reopen today.

The TLC Cafe is back at Castle Douglas Parish Church from 12noon to 2pm on Thursdays.

The congregation has received a grant from the Church of Scotland Small Grants for Warm Spaces scheme, which will allow the church to employ a manager/cook to run the one day a week cafe alongside the volunteers.

Today will see tea, coffee and biscuits on offer with the usual soup and sandwiches being served once the manager/cook has been appointed. Updates will be announced on the church Facebook page.

For many people in the town the TLC Cafe was the highlight of their week.

Convener of the TLC Cafe committee, Iain Proudfoot, said: “We are keen to welcome back the clientele that enjoyed the welcome, friendship and food in cafe in the past.”
