Award-winning Ayr restaurant trashed by gang of hooded party yobs who went on wrecking spree

A gang of hooded yobs have trashed an Ayr restaurant's outdoor dining domes earlier this morning.

The Fox & Willow were paid a visit by the group of brazen "teenagers" who wreaked havoc in their popular garden space and “partied” before smashing up table condiments and kicking plant pots across the car park.

It is understood that neighbouring cars next to the Carrick Road venue were also targeted with complaints raised that car bonnets were jumped on.

The unwelcome guests arrived at 4am and CCTV footage has captured them with hoods up and masks covering their faces in the early hours of this morning.

Images show the group arriving in the car park before heading towards the domes.

In another image a girl is spotted watching on as two boys lean down next to the door of domes which have proved a hit amongst customers since they were brought in this year.

Another still from the security camera shows the group huddled together inside the dome where they reportedly blasted music.

The restaurant has today slammed those responsible, in a Facebook post as they condemned their actions.

The post reads: "Firstly, we would like to apologise to our neighbours for any noise disturbance around 4am this morning. It was not from anyone who works within The Fox & Willow.

"It was this group of teenagers…Who decided they would be nice enough to break into one of our domes last night and trash it. They then smashed our condiments up and enjoyed a kick around with our garden decor, destroying it.

"Hoods went up as they saw our CCTV, however this doesn’t always hide your identity.

"Get a life, find something better to do and don’t be so disrespectful to others belongings.

"Any information from the power of Facebook would be great. Please feel free to phone the venue on 01292 262846 and ask for Lauren."

It comes after the restaurant was announced as Scotland’s best at the Dram awards last week.

Disappointed bosses at the restaurant shared CCTV images as part of a social media appeal.

A spokesperson for Fox & Willow told Ayrshire Live: “It is really frustrating.

“The domes are such a huge part of what we are about here, to come in and destroy them is really disappointing.

“They broke into a dome, destroyed garden decor that was purchased during lockdown and smashed the condiments on the table within the dome.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of vandalism at a premises on Carrick Road in Ayr which is believed to have occurred around 4am on Friday, September 17, 2021. Enquiries are at an early stage.”
