Award for Chapelhall care worker

A Chapelhall care worker has been recognised for her “exceptional work” in supporting one of her vulnerable clients during lockdown.

Carol Graham received an “amazing people” award from employer Mears after being praised for her patience and care in helping the lady to be able to overcome a fear of going out to ensure she was able to have regular walks and fresh air.

Her manager, Elaine Frank, said: “The feedback we had was amazing and we thought Carol deserved this special award.

“Lockdown has affected us all in different ways, with some people struggling to isolate and stay indoors while others have struggled with fear of going out and and worrying about infection.”

Elaine added: “Our role as carers in the community has never been more important, when the Covid-19 restrictions have limited social contact for the vulnerable older people we care for.

“With more limitations on family contact and friends and neighbours visiting, our role is even more important, and I thank each and every one of our team for the tireless effort they put in to look after individuals in our local community.

“They work passionately, doing their duties to support people to live an independent life in their own homes.”
