Avril Lavigne tells topless environmentalist to ‘get the f*** off’ stage as she interrupts awards ceremony

Avril Lavigne got hot-headed while performing in Canada on Monday night as the singer was interrupted by a topless environmental campaigner. The princess of pop-punk confronted the protester on stage at the Juno Awards.

Avril, who is from Ontario, Canada, was at the music awards and festival in Edmonton, to introduce Punjabi-Canadian rapper and singer AP Dhillon.

As the 38-year-old was doing so, she was joined by an unexpected semi-nude guest.

While the pop-rocker read from a teleprompter, a topless protester came up behind her with ‘Save the Greenbelt’ written on her back and ‘Land Back’ on her inner arms.

The environmentalist is thought to have done this in protest of the Ontario government which issued new regulations to remove 7,400 acres of protected Greenbelt land and open it up for housing, which has been widely criticised by environmental campaigners.

It is currently under investigation by the province's auditor general and integrity commissioner.

Lavigne was seen to ignore the protester at first, however, lost her cool telling the campaigner to “get the f*** off” the stage before security came to remove her off stage.

The Sk8er Boi singer later returned to the stage to accept her TikTok Juno fan choice gong. She joked about the incident saying: “Now nobody try anything this time or the Canadian is going to come out of me, and I’m going to f*** a b**** up."

In her acceptance speech, the My Happy Ending singer acknowledged her 20 years in the industry and since then has seen it change so much.

“Last year, I celebrated the 20th anniversary of my debut album, Let Go. I’ve seen the industry change so much – music change, the business change, technology change; trends come and go, artists come and go – but the one thing that’s been most consistent for me is my fanbase over the past 20 years."

Lavigne signed her first recording contract at the age of 16 and has gone on to sell 40 million albums worldwide.

In recent news, the Complicated singer has gone public with her new boyfriend and rapper Tyga, who is also known for his former relationship with Kylie Jenner.

This came as a shock to many fans as Lavigne was engaged to singer Mod Sun earlier this year.

The 35-year-old recently took to Instagram to acknowledge the break-up saying he’s devastated.

“In 1 week my entire life completely changed…I just know there’s a plan for it all. I’ll keep my head up + always listen to my heart, even when it feels broken. Being surrounded by love every night on tour has been an absolute blessing. I have the best friends in the entire world, thanks for always having my back. See you on stage.”
