Avonte Maddox was the top CB in NFL in yards allowed per coverage snap last season

Avonte Maddox has quickly made a name for himself in the Philadelphia Eagles secondary and breakdowns of his play are showing that he deserves to start at cornerback. The former Pittsburgh Panther stands 5’9” and weighs 185 pounds, but he might be the Eagles most efficient corner.

Last season for the Eagles, Maddox played in 13 games, starting nine of them, including one game as in the playoffs as a rookie. Maddox played 109 snaps at slot cornerback, 295 snaps at boundary cornerback and 226 snaps at free safety.

That grade allowed the Eagles second-year cornerback to be the No.1 cornerback in the NFL in yards allowed per coverage snap.

According to Pro Football Maddox played 391 coverage snaps and allowed just 218 yards, which equals out to the 0.56 yards allowed per cover snap.

Expect the Eagles to line Maddox up all over the field, and at times on a designated skill player as well.
