A popular car boot sale on the outskirts of Bristol has stopped running as it no longer has a location to set up in.
Organisers of Avon Valley Car Boot sale, which has been operating a weekly car boot sales in Keynsham since 2018, says it has “closed for good”.
The car boot sale was held in the car park for Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife park - but the park now needs the land for its winter events.
The car park is needed to accommodate visitors for its ‘A Journey to The North Pole‘ event, meaning there is no room for the traders.
A spokesperson for Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park said: “We have made the decision that the Avon Valley Car Boot Sale will not be able to operate in the car park during this coming winter period.
“A decision in regard to the future operation, at the site, for Avon Valley Car Boot Sale will be confirmed at a later date.”
But Avon Valley Car Boot group has decided to shut down and posted about its permanent closure online.
The post on their Facebook page said: “Sorry, Avon Valley Car Boot will no longer be running.”
Commenters quickly expressed their feelings with many saying it’s “shameful” while others have asked if the event will be hosted elsewhere.
The car boot sale only reopened in March of this year, and when Bristol Live reached out to the group about the closure a spokesperson said: “There isn’t enough room for a car boot sale because Avon Valley Country Park need the car park back.
“The car boot sale has closed for good.”
