Avon made up over sales' rise as new recruits sign up during lockdown

Beauty company Avon has reported a huge rise in people signing up to sell its products as sales boomed during lockdown.

The number of reps signing up has hiked by 30 per cent as people explore new earning opportunities during the pandemic.

The Norfolk Broads has become the Avon ‘capital of the UK’, with more 233 per cent more sales people joining the organisation compared to the previous year.

Birmingham continues to boast the most Avon Reps in the country, recording a 42 per cent increase in new reps in the past 12 months.

Avon has transformed its selling networks to enable its reps to use their digital tools for selling, which has led to a 155 per cent increase in online sales.

The beauty company, which has five million reps globally, enables women and men to sell products directly to friends, family and neighbours. There are also opportunities for Avon representatives to become full-time beauty entrepreneurs, as independent sales leaders.

Angela Cretu, Avon chief executive, said: “The economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic continue to impact communities across the country. Unemployment continues to rise, many households are on reduced incomes, and thousands of parents are trying to balance childcare or schooling at home with their own work commitments.

"We know that women are disproportionately bearing the brunt of these impacts, and as a result we’ve seen a surge of new rep signs ups as women look for new, more flexible, ways to earn.

“Avon has a rich heritage in enabling women to earn and learn and become entrepreneurs on their own terms and is something that we’re very much focused on since the pandemic took hold.

"Already online sales have more than doubled in the UK with reps being able to supplement or in some cases, completely replace lost incomes during these difficult times.”
