Avomouth Explosion: Helicopter lands at scene of serious incident

An air ambulance has landed in Avonmouth after a large explosion in a warehouse.

Firefighters are 'still looking for people' following the serious incident at 11.22am (December 3).

Chiefs at Avon Fire & Rescue Service - who is leading on this incident - confirmed a number of people have been injured and they are still searching for people.

However, we are awaiting further updates on the severity of those hurt in today's blast.

A fire spokeswoman said there have been multiple people injured in the explosion, but that the outcome is unknown at present.

Photographs show a crew from Wiltshire Air Ambulance landing at the scene.

But it's unclear if the aircraft is an air ambulance or police helicopter.

In a statement earlier, Avon Fire & Rescue Service said: "We have been called to a large explosion at 11.22am in a warehouse in Avonmouth.

"Crews from Avonmouth, Southmead, Yate, Patchway, Kingswood and Temple are currently attending.

"We are joined by Avon and Somerset Police and Ambulance on site.
