Avery Pohl exits General Hospital after shocking yacht incident

New York Attorney General Letitia James walks after exiting the courtroom in New York

In a recent turn of events, it has been confirmed that actress Avery Pohl has bid farewell to the beloved ABC drama, General Hospital. Pohl's final episode aired on Wednesday, leaving fans eager to learn more about the circumstances surrounding her character's exit.

According to a spokesperson for the show, Pohl's character, Esme, met a dramatic end on the latest episode. In an attempt to murder two other characters on a yacht, Esme injected her ex-boyfriend Spencer with a lethal cocktail of drugs and then turned her attention to his girlfriend, Trina. However, Spencer managed to overpower Esme, resulting in both characters falling overboard and being presumed dead.

Pohl's portrayal of Esme has not always been well-received by viewers, as the character often took on the role of a villain. However, the actress embraced the challenge and aimed to entertain audiences through her performance. Reflecting on her character, Pohl stated, 'At the end of the day, my job is to help tell a story and to entertain people, and if people are entertained by the fact that they love to loathe me, then I guess my job is done!'

Behind the scenes, Pohl developed a strong bond with co-star Tabyana Ali, who plays Trina, the intended victim of Esme's murderous plot. Ali expressed her fondness for Pohl, mentioning that they maintain frequent communication even after her departure. However, Ali admitted to missing the experience of working with Pohl on set.

As the show continues its lengthy run, General Hospital is no stranger to the departure and arrival of characters. With 61 seasons and over 15,000 episodes under its belt, the series has successfully captivated audiences with its intense and emotional storylines.

Although fans bid farewell to Avery Pohl's character, Esme, on General Hospital, viewers can still catch the engaging series on ABC, airing weekdays (local listings vary).
