Dublin weather: Average rainfall for Dublin in November has hit in the first 10 days of the month

The average rainfall for Dublin in November has already hit the capital in just 10 days.

It's been a wet and miserable month so far in the capital and forecasters say we can expect more rain to fall in the coming days.

Met Eireann's Liz Walsh said the unusually wet weather has been caused by repeated low pressure systems which are leading to a frontal rainband gathering over the Irish Sea.

The accompanying north-easterly winds are also having an effect.

“It keeps bombarding the east coast with rain, she told the Irish Times.

"We had a succession of these. In a way we have been getting west coast weather on the east coast.”

Further showers are expected to hit the capital overnight.

Tonight will be cold, with clear spells and occasional showers.

Lowest temperatures of 2 or 3C in fresh and occasionally gusty westerly winds.

Tomorrow will be cold and blustery with scattered showers and highs of just 7 to 8C.

It will get progressively colder as the week goes on with temperatures dropping below 0C and a chance of sleet.

The national forecast for Wednesday night reads: "Outbreaks of rain and sleet will continue overnight across much of the country with a risk of some wintry falls on higher ground.

"Cold with widespread frost and lows of -1 to 2 degrees. Breezy with moderate to fresh northerly breezes."
