Average Glasgow house price soars by £12,000 in a year

The average asking price for a house in Glasgow has risen by over £12,000 in the last year.

That's according to property listing website rightmove, which provided data to Glasgow Live showing house prices in our city have risen by 7.9% in just 12 months.

In January 2020, homes for sale in Glasgow were priced on average at £153,522. As of this month, that figures stands at £165,668.

The spike significantly trumps the national Scottish increase of 5.6%.

Meanwhile, the current average asking price of a home in Scotland is £158,044, over £4,500 more than in our city.

As it stands, almost 2,000 homes in the Glasgow area are listed for sale on rightmove, ranging in price from £1.495million for a six bedroom detached villa in Nethercraigs to a two-bed auction property priced at £30,000 in the Gorbals.

The majority of regions across the UK have seen house prices increase in the last 12 months. However, London bucks that trend, having witnessed a 1.4% decrease in the past year.
