'Average footballers' - West Ham fans react to £25m Nottingham Forest transfer swoop rumours

Nottingham Forest have hit the headlines this week with reports that they could be forced to sell defensive duo Matty Cash and Joe Worrall if they fail to get promoted.

The duo have been linked with a big money move to West Ham with the suggestion being that the Reds could be forced to cash in on two of their prized assets due to the financial fallout of the coronavirus crisis.

And Football Insider claims that West Ham could land them both for £25m - if Forest do not get promoted this season.

It's caused a quite a lot of reaction amongst both sets of fans, we took a look at what the West Ham fans had made of the rumours.

Martin Canning: That's a lot of money for average footballers!

Steven McCarthy: I like both players, but there’s better CB’s than Worrall for £12-15m...

But if he’s Balbuena’s replacement & we still get in someone like Salisu or Disasi then I think we’d be in a much better position defensively!

Unrealistic, but I’d love to sign Tanganga from Spurs on a free!

Josh Verrils: Matty Cash would and should be a great addition to the West Ham squad if they push forward on the initial link with the player. Cash looks ready to step up to the PL and would be a solid addition both long term and short term for the West Ham squad.

Victoria Austens: Would prefer Ollie Watkins to Joe Worrall

Will Earle: Decent deal to be fair

andre en francaise: Madness talking prices like this. Nobody knows what the market is going to be like post CV19

A: My only reservation with bringing Cash in would be the development of Ngakia and Johnson.

Chris U: Fine by me.  I love Cashy but...25mill ....should buy us promotion next season

Cash and Worrall have been in outstanding form for Sabri Lamouchi’s side this season, playing key roles in a back line which has helped Forest climb to fifth in the Championship table.

That promotion push has been placed on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak, with games suspended indefinitely and clubs across the country feeling the financial pinch.

The report adds: “A Forest source has told Football Insider that Cash and Worrall are regarded as two prize assets able to each secure eight-figure fees.”

The Nigel Doughty Academy products have both featured regularly for Lamouchi.

After returning from a loan spell at Rangers last term, Worrall has racked up 39 appearances and scored one goal.

Cash has blossomed in the role of right-back, also featuring 39 times and scoring three goals.
