Avengers star Tom Holland pretends to be Peter Parker for Jimmy Kimmel's son's birthday

Avengers star Tom Holland made waves with his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show last night, as he dressed up as Spider-man to sing “Happy Birthday” to Kimmel’s three-year-old son.

During the episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Holland tuned in via video link to chat with the comedian, before donning an improvised costume for the surprise.

Talking to Kimmel’s two kids, the actor, who has played the famous web-slinger in two standalone Spider-man films, two Avengers movies and Captain America: Civil War, introduced himself as Peter Parker and spoke to them in character, before wishing the younger child a happy birthday.

The stunt drew a positive reaction from viewers, many of whom took to Twitter to voice their feelings.

“Tom Holland surprising Jimmy Kimmel’s son Billy (big Spider-Man stan) on his third birthday over Zoom is giving me LIFE” said one Twitter user.

Another commenter joked that “y’all say peter parker isn’t real when tom holland is out there being peter parker himself”. Others called the footage “adorable” and “precious”.

Holland is set to star in a forthcoming Spider-man film which will carry on the character’s arc from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The next Marvel film to be released is Black Widow, which has been pushed back from May to November due to global cinema closures. This has caused knock-on delays for the rest of the films in Marvel’s “Phase 4” slate, including the as-yet untitled Spider-man film.
