Avengers: Endgame star Danai Gurira added to Marvel poster after fan backlash

Marvel has added actor Danai Gurira’s name to the official poster for Avengers: Endgamefollowing a backlash over her absence from the top billing.

Gurira, who is a prominent character in the film Black Panther, was the only star featured in character on the Endgame poster montage who was not named in the credits at the top, alongside co-stars including Rober Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson.

She plays Okoye, the trusted General of Armed Forces for the royal family of Wakanda.

The latest trailer for Endgame was released earlier on 14 March and gave fans a closer look at what to expect when the latest instalment in the superhero franchise is released in cinemas on 26 April.

While fans were enthusiastic about the trailer, they were not so enamoured by the exclusion of Gurira’s name from the poster credits.

Marvel responded to the backlash by releasing an updated version of the Endgame poster with Gurira’s name included in the credits at the top.

“She should have been up there all this time,” the studio wrote on Twitter before tagging Gurira and writing the hashtag #WakandaForever.
