Avengers: Endgame directors 'considering interval' for three hour-plus film

The final Avengers film is said to be so long that Marvel is considering including an interval.

Editing may still be taking place on Avengers: Endgame, but a test screening reportedly exceeded the three-hour mark – and now, its directors, the Russo brothers, are contemplating including a break midway through.

The report was tweeted by Coming Soon writer Alan Cerny, who wrote: “Rumour has it Marvel is considering an intermission for AVENGERS ENDGAME as it is currently clocking at three hours.”

Intervals were standard practice back in the golden age of Hollywood for epics, including Gone with the Wind and Doctor Zhivago. The most recent interval occurred in the 70mm print of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, which clocked in at thee hours and seven minutes.

A brand new trailer for the film was released during this year’s Super Bowl. It left Marvel fans convinced that certain characters had been edited out in an attempt to keep the film’s surprises a secret.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in UK cinemas on 25 April.
