The second trailer has arrived for Avengers: Age of Ultron, arguably the most-anticipated film of the year – Star Wars excepted.
As in the first glimpse, which Marvel rush-released after it was leaked online, the superhero supergroup of the Avengers – Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America among them – face the sadistic genius robot Ultron, who in classic comic book fashion, wants to see the world go to pot. “I’m going to show you something beautiful: everyone screaming for mercy,” Ultron promised last time round. Now he’s threatening to “tear you apart, from the the inside”.
Eagle-eyed viewers will notice the return of Nick Fury, a mysterious character disrobing, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow getting what looks like some unpleasant surgery, and Ultron built from bits of scrap, including an Avengers-branded chest-plate. There’s more from the awesome Iron Man v Hulk fight shown in the first trailer, with Tony Stark in bulky armour fighting a weirdly red-eyed Hulk – the beef between these two looks likely to be an armrest-gripping sequence. Still no idea what a hirsute Andy Serkis is up to.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is out on April 24 in the UK. Expect more tantalising clips before then.
