Ever since it first aired in 2005, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" has become an enduring hit across different generations of fans. It's no surprise that many adaptations, such as a film and a live action series, have been created since.
For "Avatar" fans who are into gaming, a video game based on the series has also been released. It's none other than "Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game."
'Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game'
Released on July 23, 2026, "Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game" is a fighting game developed by Gameplay Group International and published by PM Studios and Paramount Games Studio.
According to the game's official Steam page and publisher PM Studios, players battle in one-on-one matches using elemental bending abilities and unique combat styles inspired by characters from across the franchise. The game also features story, arcade, training, and online versus modes.
The roster includes several fan-favorite heroes and villains from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Confirmed playable characters include Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Sokka, and Azula, each with their own fighting style and elemental abilities.

Given the popularity of the "Avatar" franchise, what do the critics have to say about the game?
In its review of "Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game," IGN has given the game a score of eight out of 10.
"Despite some puzzling omissions and a lackluster story mode, 'Avatar Legends' is a fighting game fan's dream, with a diverse roster, an incredibly flexible combat system that rewards precision and creativity, and some of the coolest looking combos around," IGN's Mitchell Saltzman says in the review.
Over at Metacritic, the game has a score 77 based on 26 critic reviews as of press time.
Indigo GEEK gave the game a score of 85, stating that "'Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game' is a title aimed at fans of the franchise and fighting games."
"With a fluid combat system that rewards mobility, as well as game modes that strike a balance between competitive and single-player experiences, it stands out as a robust gaming experience," Indigo GEEK adds. "Although the story is clearly just a pretext, it might be one that fans appreciate."
"'Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game' includes all the elements for a standout experience within the 'Avatar' universe — excellent mechanics, a good roster, a solid roster, and attention to detail," Console Creatures said in its review, which gives the game a score of 80.
"However, it has some growing pains that need to be addressed with obtuse tutorials that really need revision to drive home the basics for those looking for them," Console Creatures explains. "And despite a story written by the series' creators, it leaves a lot of potential on the table."
'Very Positive' Reviews on Steams
"Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game" has more than 2,000 user reviews on Steam, which the platform has classified as "Very Positive."
"Very fun fighting game," metal sonic said in a Steam review. "Very in-depth offense and defense, with a lot of options for both parties, making for matches that don't feel the same every time."
"I was very nervous that they pushed this out too early and would abandon it half-finished, but I've had a blast playing so far," Steam user nois said in a separate review.
Bought two controllers just to play this game and I have no regrets."
nois added, "Hand drawn and the moves are canon to what you see in the shows, what more could you want? They did right by the original material."
