
Utase boats sail on Notsuke Bay in Betsukai, Hokkaido, on Monday, the first day of the autumn season for Hokkai shrimp fishing. About 20 boats unfurled their triangular sails and set off early in the morning. "There wasn't much wind so it was a bit difficult, but we managed to catch some nice-looking shrimp," a fisherman said. Shrimp fishing takes place in summer and autumn, with the autumn season running through Nov. 6.
