
Commuters in Tokyo's Marunouchi business district are bundled up against a cold wave that drifted into Japan overnight and produced the coldest morning this autumn on Monday. In central Tokyo, the temperature dropped to 9.2 C, a level usually seen in mid-November and 5.2 C lower than average years, the Meteorological Agency said. The town of Shibecha in Hokkaido had a low of minus-5.6 C, while temperatures in Sapporo and Sendai dropped to 4 C and 6.2 C, respectively. The sub-average cold weather is expected to remain across the country on Tuesday.
