Autumn 'Barket' a paw-fect day out for Perth pooches

The dog-dedicated ‘Autumn Barket’ held in Perth last weekend proved to be the paw-fect day out for hundreds of local pets and their families.

Over 50 stalls were set up at The Yard on October 17 with a variety of products and goodies on sale for owners and pooches alike.

Award-winning Craig Cantwell Dog Photography was at the market with his pop-up photo booth and Jenny from Alba Dog Massage was on hand to give doggy massages.

Country Paws which specialises in producing dog paw imprints as keepsakes, was also there alongside other various stallholders selling artwork, food, treats, collars, leads, and many other accessories dedicated to man’s best friend.

There was also a Donation Station for rescue dogs where any food, bedding, bowls, collars or leads were gratefully accepted.

The market event, organised by Katie McCandless-Thomas of Dog Friendly Perthshire and The Yard, proved to be such a hit that a special Christmas Barket has been scheduled for December 5.

Delighted at the success, Katie said: ”We are incredibly pleased at what a huge success The Barket was.

“The Yard is a great venue with having so much indoor and outdoor space for humans and their dogs.

“There was a fantastic range of stalls selling everything your dog want along with treats for humans too.

“Stine the other organiser got hot food trucks for the day too so we made sure it was a paw-some day for everyone.

“A huge amount was donated and will be going to All Dogs Rescue.

“With The Barket being such a huge success we will be holding a special Christmas Barket on December 5.”

She added in a social media post: “Thank you to all our fantastic stallholders who travelled from across Scotland to attend.

“A huge thank you to everyone who dropped of donations for dogs in need too. The biggest thank you to Stine and The Yard! It’s always a pleasure to work with The Yard at events.”

The Yards’s Stine Hope added: “It was a brilliant day. We had around 550 customers and their dogs join us.

“We have had the most amazing feedback from the many independent businesses who joined us.

“It’s great to see the support from the Perth community for our market.

"We cannot wait for our Christmas Barket on December 5.”
