Automobilista 2’s latest update has arrived and it’s the biggest of the year, packed with 2005 Endurance content, including two new DLCs and a free GT2 car.
Along with the AMS2 v1.6.8.5 update, the team introduced a couple of DLC’s, the Historical Track Pack Pt3, which includes three Endurance tracks from 2005 and the Historical Endurance Pack Pt1, featuring eleven cars from the same era spanning LMP and GT classes, each one costs $9.99.
Update v1.6.8.5 introduces Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA), a new option that smooths jagged edges by blending current and past frames for improved image quality and, in some cases, better performance than MSAA. The update also improves autosaving and autoloading setups to reduce the chances of incorrect data being restored, enhances the glare effect of Endurance headlights at night and adds new presets for 2004 and 2005 FIA GT, ALMS and ELMS seasons.
Physics adjustments continue across several classes, including GT3, GT1, Group C, BMW M1 Procar and LMDh/GTP. These changes include revised setups and range updates, meaning older setups may require significant tweaks. Other vehicles received smaller tire refinements that shouldn’t heavily affect performance.
AI behavior has seen major improvements with more refined traction and braking logic for smoother throttle application and more balanced cornering. Drivers now behave more naturally in traffic, showing less twitchiness and reduced overcorrection when changing lines. Rubber banding has been toned down, making racing feel fairer and more consistent.
AI aggression levels have also been reworked to create clearer differences between settings. Medium and High aggression are now recommended for most players, Medium for endurance and heavier cars, High for sprint and formula racing. Low aggression remains best for newcomers or controller users, while Max aggression increases unpredictability and pile-ups. AI sorting has also been tweaked, ensuring grid positions better reflect qualifying skill when sessions are skipped. Check out the full patch notes here.
