Gadael yr Ugeinfed Ganrif will be performed at Chapter Arts Centre

A Cardiff actor will perform a one-man show of his autobiographical adventures in Welsh pop next month.

Gareth Potter, whose musical career has been based in Cardiff and currently DJs in Clwb Ifor Bach, will be performing the Welsh language show Gadael yr Ugeinfed Ganrif at Chapter Arts Centre from 16-19 February before touring around Wales.

Potter, who grew up in the Rhymney Valley and teaches drama at the Atrium, has been an influential figure in the Welsh music scene in Cardiff – as a close friend of Cerys Matthews and Mark Roberts before the glory days of Catatonia – the show opens with him going to the much-loved Vulcan pub.

The play, also written by Potter and developed as part of Sherman Cymru's Artists' development initiative, will trace his path during this time.

Radio 1 presenter Huw Stephens said:

"Gareth is an enterprising musician and ideas man who has greatly enriched the scene in Wales."
