Auto dealers seek vehicle registration through app

BHOPAL: A delegation of Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association met the transport commissioner here to discuss their outstanding issues with him. The delegation said that except for MP and Telangana, registration of vehicles is being carried out through the app “Vahan”, which not only allows “paperless, faceless” work but HSRP and the registration card is delivered within half-an-hour.

The delegation said that after the new Motor Vehicles’ Act comes into force in April 2022, it would be imperative in any case because anyone purchasing a vehicle would be required to have a registration card of the vehicle before the vehicle goes on road. If found without the registration no. and card, not only the owner of the vehicle but dealer, who has sold the vehicle to him, would be penalised.

The delegation also pointed out a lot of BS-3 vehicles in MP, which were purchased and payment made before March 31, 2017, have not yet been registered and their registration no. doesn’t appear on the registration portal.

The delegation further said that in place of annual renewal of trade certificates, it should be done every five years in the interest of automobile dealers as well as the transport department. They also brought to the notice of the transport commissioner that payment to the state treasury in Madhya Pradesh is made through SBI only. Following the RBI directive that businesses can have CC in only one bank it has become difficult to make payment to the state treasury only through SBI.
