A Wirral charity is launching its own autism-friendly Santa's grotto run by autism-aware elves.
Autism Together’s ever-popular Santa’s Grotto returns along with a Christmas market at Thornton Hough plus a Christmas concert at Inglewood Manor.
Children and their families are invited to come along and meet Father Christmas and his elves at the autism-friendly grotto .
Santa and his helpers have received training in autism-awareness and each booking to the grotto allows a 15-minute slot to meet Santa, helping to reduce queueing and ease anxiety for some children.
Pre-booking via the Autism Together website is essential, with accompanying parents or carers able to attend for free, and each paying guest receiving a gift from Santa.
The grotto will be at Autism Together’s Garden Centre at Bromborough Pool Village on Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8 and costs £5.50 with accompanying parents or carers able to attend for free. Each paying visitor will also receive a gift from Santa.
If you want to do some early Christmas shopping, you can head to Thornton Hough Village Hall on Sunday, December 1 with free entry to the Christmas market which will feature more than 25 local artisan sellers inside, along with children's Christmas crafts, donkey rides and festive face painting.
Items for sale include pies and baked goods, gins, soaps, candles, knitwear and books, plus a range of items from Autism Together’s Garden Centre, including Christmas trees, festive wreaths and more.
Finally if that's not enough to get you into the Christmas spirit then you can enjoy a mince pie and a warm glass of mulled wine at the Autism Together's Christmas Concert at Inglewood Manor on Wednesday, December 11.
Featuring The Luminelles, a choir from Birkenhead High School Academy who have performed for BBC Worldwide and a sell-out gig at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral.
They will be supported by The Riversign Choir, a non-profit group of deaf and hearing people, country music duo, Tenessee Waltz; and The Two ATs – a musical double act performing Christmas classics.
Tickets for the Concert and the Grotto are available now from the Autism Together website. Visit www.autismtogether.co.uk and click the banner to book.
