Autism-friendly after hours experiences are coming to the National Museum of Scotland

The National Museum of Scotland is hosting special after hours sessions aimed at autistic young people.

The autism-friendly experiences will take place at a quieter time when most visitors have left.

Young people aged 14 and over will be able to enjoy the Chambers Street museum and its exhibitions on their own terms.

Two events have been scheduled so far, one features an exhibition on diversity in the fashion industry on October 8.

"Body Beautiful" looks at alternative ideas of beauty on the catwalk.

The next autism-friendly event is taking place on February 18, 2019. Visitors will be able to see an exhibition called Parasites: Battle for Survival.

This examines the ground-breaking research which is tackling deadly tropical diseases around the world.

Earlier this year, the museum held a series of autism-friendly workshops for children and their parents.
